Nepo Babies

You see it in politics, too. Children of famous musicians became famous musicians or music producers. It's a little more unusual that the child of a famous artist, i.e., painter, sculptor, becomes a famous artist or gallery owner, but it happens. Same with famous athletes.

I didn't achieve world fame at anything, but I used to take my kids to work with me on "take your kid to work day." Still, they chose their own paths. And maybe that's what they got out of it - What not to do for a living.

You do see it elsewhere. But my hunch is that it is far more prevalent in Hollywood.

Following in someone's footsteps isn't nepotism. There are plenty of doctors, lawyers and police who go into the profession because a parent did. But that doesn't greatly increase their chances of success. Having a lawyer for a parent won't help you pass the bar exam.

That isn't true with actors. As my wife always says about such actors--they would be waiting tables if they didn't have a connection.
