The first time I heard Dylan was when my always overly exuberant roommate came running into the house with a new record album under his arm. He excitedly put the record on the player saying, "Roomie, you have got to hear this." I think it was Dylan's first. I heard that pregnant cat sound, but I would describe it differently, which I have often tried to do in my head, but could never find the words to do it effectively.

I listened to part of the first song and said to my roommate, "Are you nuts? This guy is going nowhere." So much for my expert and not so insightful opinion. But eventually, I got used to his singing and gave him a pass as Peter, Paul, and Mary started picking up his creations and turning them into lovely harmony.
 
I have always loved Bob Dylan, his music, and his singing. If he tried singing other singer's stuff, then he wouldn't have been so good. But right from the start, if you are a music lover, then you noticed the lyrics, not the voice. Then you became used to the voice, and just sing along. I still do to this day, especially when I'm listening to Like a Rolling Stone.

Good on you for sharing this. I’ve never been a concert goer but I was an album collector and Dylan put out many great ones. I hope to see the movie. Do you know if it is coming to theaters or going to be released online?

I’m not the only one. Bob Dylan’s voice , to my ears , is really nasally but I admit to him being very talented musically. I know my post won’t be popular. lol Bob Dylan’ is probably one of the most well known musicians alive today.
 
While many have criticized Bob Dylan's nasally voice, he actually had pretty good pitch when he wanted to... at least in the studio. I saw him about 15 years ago and I couldn't tell when he was singing or talking to the audience.
