New England Seafood Chowder

I make a NE style seafood chowder and/or clam chowder every few months. I don't put lobster in it... rather just eat lobster with melted butter and maybe a few drops of fresh lemon juice.

I should make it more often, but then I do love baked fish. I never batter and deep fry fish.. prefer to get that in a restaurant.

We usually eat baked cod or haddock once or twice a week. There's often a bit of the cooked fish left over and my wife freezes it. Then about once a month she'll make a low fat chowder using the leftover fish, some frozen scallops, frozen shrimp and skim milk (along with whatever other magical stuff she adds). Served with freshly baked whole wheat muffins. Certainly not traditional New England chowder, but it's low in calories, loaded with protein, and absolutely delicious! :D

(We lived in Maine for almost 25 years but never cared much for lobster. Mostly just a novelty we served when friends from away visited.)
