I'd like to see a forum for shopping opinion. alerts and business of interest on a national or international level
Personal experiences are unlikely to be interesting to those in another location Online and national chains are of interest to all. Or small shops compared to chains

Ask @Matrix.. he may have some reservations but you can ask...

Just be advised that IF you ‘suggest’ a new forum, you ARE ‘expected’ to moderate it.
I suggested a mental health forum but did not realize I would be expected to moderate it. Luckily someone else offered to do it for me.

I don't think it requires much time; usually, you don't have to do anything. If a thread needs a mod's attention (mostly politics and personal attacks), our members will report it, and I will handle it with a few mouse clicks.

I do hope you have a significant interest in this topic when you suggest a new forum. This way, you'll want to nurture it when it's quiet by starting new threads or participating in threads started by others.

So, don't suggest a new forum just because you think this board needs it. Suggest one because you love the topic. If you love the topic, you will enjoy the discussions, and it will be more of a privilege than a burden for you to keep the forum active and the threads in order.

I have an abiding interest in general and belong to a large retail policy forum. I have the time. Do I need to check it daily? The forum should not become examples of purchases and sales and prices etc especially since no one cares about other locations usually. Is this realistic?
Are you guys into this or no?

Nope! - Personally I spent too much time and energy blocking ads, popups or tracking now, with streaming the fees for ad free are getting costly. Why not just make the category title say 'WANTED', let the 'volunteer' moderator handle the location indexing.

What does moderating involve? How much time?
It depends how busy the section gets. You’d be responsible for deleting objectionable posts …. Example … snarky replies, etc or political responses.

You would have to get the forum approved by Matrix first. He can better fill you in on what moderating entails or whether it’s suitable for the forum, in general.

I think if I'd find an awesome online retailer I'd want to share, I'd post it where it belongs in already existing sections. If I find a great OTC med or supplement, I'll post it mentioning the retailer in "health." If I want to share something I found for around the house that works exceptionally well, I'll put it in "home" ... a food item, "food & drinks", etc. I don't think I'd visit a section only for online retailers.
