New from Indiana

Hi I am new to this group. I joined because my husband and I want to retire and move to a warmer climate from Indiana. Thinking northern Florida. Would love any advice you could give me about 55+ gated communities.

How far north in Florida? Northeast Florida or Northwest? There don't seem to be a lot in Northwest Florida but there are some in the northeast.

Lots of them around the Ocala area. Are you looking for a mobile home or manufactured home community or a stick-and-brick one? Around The Villages, there are more than you can shake a stick at (or throw a brick at if you're so inclined).

Mainly on the east side but would consider the west as well. Considering the St Augustine, Nocatee area on the east side and Palmetto in the west. Want to be close to the water but not too congested of an area.

Welcome from south central Florida. When you say 'close to the water' do you only mean the coast. If so, either will be congested, touristy and pricey. However, if you're only looking for water and not beaches and ocean fishing, Florida has some wonderful lake and river property. 55+ communities cover the state. Hope you like playing here.

I would like to be about 15-20 minutes away from the beaches. Just a little inland.

We want a Stick and Brick home.
