Blimps Docked on Empire State Building: True or False?

A popular myth claims that the top of the Empire State Building was meant to serve as a docking station for dirigibles, but the building's owners say that the story is just hot air.

The top of the Empire State Building was originally built as a place to anchor blimps, Fake pictures surfaced, but it didn't happen until September 1931, when a privately-owned dirigible docked for a mere three minutes, in a 40-mile-per-hour wind. “Traffic was tied up in the streets below for more than a half hour as the pilot, Lieutenant William McCraken jockeyed for position in the half gale about the tower 1,200 feet above the ground,” the Times reported in 1931. It was the one and only time! What about the "Mooring Mast" ? (VIDEO) FAKE!
