New Haven CT Pizza

Love my papa john's veggie pizza with garlic dipping sauce. During football season they are half price when the Texans win a game!! Go Texans!!!

Things are different all over the country. You Texans would not believe the difference from chain or frozen pizza to New Haven Style fresh pie.

Then again, we Yankees can't do real smoked BBQ as well as ya'll ! Or at least not that I have tasted.

I visited the South and enjoyed a dish of homemade peach ice cream at a church social. I told the hostess how good it was and that I'd never eaten homemade ice cream before. She said, in all her Southern sweetness, "Well, that's because you're a Yankee, honey." ! I laughed along with her- she was right!

But nobody can touch our pizza. NYC comes close, though.

Wow RadishRose! I have to agree with you that Connecticut must have the best! It sure looks scrumptious.

This is my favorite commercial Pizza. I wait till it goes on sale. It's from Harris Teeter grocery chain.

Carmelized Onions, Shitaki Mushrooms, Cremini Mushrooms, Romano/Asiago/Mozzarella, Fontina and Parmesan, Capers and Rosemary!!
I sometimes scatter chopped fresh spinach all over it and tell myself it's healthy :D Ignore the sodium and calorie content lol.

If you want a crispy crust (it's thin), the trick is to cook it right on the metal oven rack (not on a cookie sheet) and to be sure to bake it precisely the time as directed. I peek in to make sure it's bubbly in the center and crispy on the edge. If not I wait till it is.

The Truffle flavor is not for everyone but they have 3 other choices too. I've never tried the others.

I see what you mean Lara, in that there is some char on the edges, it flavors everything. The crust is really important. If the dough is right (fermented enough) it's amazing.

Yes, thin is best, with the bubbled up and charred edges, omg. This sounds like a tasty combo. My favorite is Italian sausage and mozzarella, OR Pepe's white clam pie. Fresh shucked clams only.

I'll look for this, thanks.
