Hello, just joined the site today. I am retired just a year now from a job I loved issuing speeding and red light tickets through cameras. I mainly worked in Des Moines, IA. I worked during lockdown and lost both my parents to covid in the same week. The company then decided I was too old and pushed me out the door. Now what. I moved closer to my daughter and volunteer at a Senior Center cafe and I really enjoy it. It is a very active center and reminds me of a teen hangout. So many activities and friends. I enjoy quilting and reading. Looking forward to meeting you and reading the forum.
 

So sorry for your loss. I am glad you had the option to move closer to your daughter! It is wonderful that you have such a good senior program, you can stay busy and make lots of new friends. Welcome to the board.

@Ruthanne, do you have bluebonnets there? They are our state flower and they do cover fields in the spring, a beautiful sight. I bet @seadoug will get to enjoy them on his trip to San Antonio. We used to go down to San Antonio every April to see the flowers and sometimes got lucky, it would be Fiesta time in San Antonio. If I ever get the chance to go again by car I will do it.

I'm not sure if we do. I just thought it was a beautiful field.

My condolences on the loss of your parents. What a terrible blow. Then to be shoved out of a job you loved because of your age. 😖 I'm sure you weren't expecting that. It's nice that you were able to move closer to your daughter and have become involved in the Senior Center Café. You seem to have rebounded well.

I am so sorry about the loss of your parents. Losing one at a time is bad enough but both is extremely hard. Then your job! What you have been through is so hard. Sounds like you are adjusting well though. If you need to talk we are all here for you. Welcome to our forum!
