Ask away! :) I'm still setting up my profile. I'm afraid I don't have too many hobbies. I still work, at home, in publishing. A divorce several years back financially destroyed me (bit of a long story), so I don't see retirement coming any time soon. (I'm 56.). When I have time, I do a lot of reading, in particular on history and classic ocean liners, with a lot of novels/thrillers thrown in.

I also really, really love music. I'm a huge fan of the Beatles, Eric Clapton, and especially 60s and 50s music. I love doo-wop. I like all kinds of music, though, including opera and classical.

I have a close group of friends with whom I meet once a week for coffee. I love scratch-art booksā€”I do them while watching TV and/or movies. I've been walking and bicycling lately, too, in an attempt to lose some weight and stay healthy. And I get together with my daughters: One is a nurse (age 25) who lives locally, and the other is an alcohol/drug counselor (age 26) who is about 4 hours away. She's expecting twins in December!

I'm sorryā€”that was probably more than you wanted to know!

Congratulations on becoming a grandmother of twins. šŸ‘Æ How exciting is that? You must be so proud to have two very successful daughters. Well done. You must have had something to do with it.

Thank you! Yes, I'm very excited about the twins (a boy and a girl), who will be my first grandchildren. I also have a son who just graduated with his bachelor's in economics and is working at his first professional job in Iowa.

My friends and I mostly just talk about our kids and families, nothing in particular, really. We laugh a lot.

Scratch art books are simply books with pages that have images (e.g., of animals) and you use a stylus to scratch off the black covering and trace the images. They're mostly for kids, actually. šŸ˜„ I find them soothing because they're easy and sort of repetitive. I've tried to attach an image.

I'd love to learn about you all, too! I don't want to get off topic, so I guess I will continue reading posts and getting caught up.

How exciting. A boy AND girl and your first. You seem too young to be a grandmother but what would I know. Iā€™ve got dogs. lol

Iā€™ve done that scratchy art before. It IS very fun. I got some in my Christmas stocking one year.

A group of friends to share anything with IS good but laughing is priceless.

Iā€™m sure within a few weeks youā€™ll learn about many of us here. I just wanted to help make you feel inclusive. Itā€™s a fun group here. Iā€™m sure youā€™ll fit it.

Iā€™m hoping to sign up for swimming tomorrow. Wish me luck on finding a bathing suite that fits.

Good luck! I've been hoping to try swimming. Walking hasn't been working too well for me; my right ankle and calf muscles are giving me trouble.

Thanks. Iā€™ve only been twice and I feel better already. The water is only room temperature so a tad cool while getting in but once I start swimming I warm up. I think Iā€™m going to shorten my length and use my iPhone for recording the time. My last timing I messed up. The first time I went swimming, I was REALLY tired. I swam an hour . The last time I swam , it was for an hour and 20 minutes. When finished I was tired for a day but today walked almost 4.5 kilometres.

Try swimming. You might like it. Once youā€™re in the water, it is fabulous. Iā€™m going tomorrow again.
