New iPad is as cheap as a used one !

The Spring Apple Event is March 12th, and they are announcing the new iPad 11, and new iPad Air at that time. An interesting thing is that the new models are already available for pre-order and will be shipped out when they arrive, but the prices are now lower for both the regular iPad and the iPad Air M3 11” and 13”.
This means that you can order a new iPad cheaper than you can get the same thing in the used 2024 model.

I am sure that the people who are selling the used ones on Amazon, eBay, and wherever else, they are selling them, will have to be scrambling to lower their prices for the used models now, because no one will order the older models if the brand new one is the same price. Plus, the new ones now have Apple Intelligence capability.

Yes ! At least i am definitely thinking about it.
I sent my mid-sized iPad Pro 10.5 to my DIL because she only had a really old iPad Mini, and needed something a little newer and larger, and I decided that I would update to a newer model.
I do surveys for gift card points, and I finished a survey on heart failure that paid $450 in amazon gift cards. I have not received the gift cards yet, but once i get them, I am going to get one of the brand new regular iPads, the new iPad 11.

The amazing thing is that the new iPad 11 costs $350, for 128GB of storage, and the old 2022 iPad 10 still costs $350 for only 64 GB of storage. I have been watching some of the YT videos comparing the new iPad 11 and the 10, and there is not much difference between the two, except this one is 3 years newer, and will update longer. The prices for the older models of iPads are going to have to come down a lot for people to still be able to sell them !

The iPad Air costs twice as much as the regular iPad, and is better quality, as well as it has the new apple intelligence , which is one of the main reasons it cost so much more. It is kind of a mid-point between the basic iPad and the iPad Pro.
It also uses the new Apple Pencil and can charge it magnetically on the top of the iPad, just like the Pro’s do.

Since I mainly want the mid-size iPad for drawing and painting with, I really do not care about having the apple intelligence part, and i still have the first generation Apple Pencil that will work with the new iPad 11, and I have a charger for that, too.
I have not decided which color I want to get yet, and they all are nice.

You sound very excited about getting the new iPad. I wish I knew as much about computers as you do. I have an iPad Pro which I rarely ever use probably because I am so attached to my iPhone. It can do most of the things I need it for plus I can put it in my pocket when we go on walks and take photos which I love doing. It sounds like you really thought this through and sounds like a good decision. Let us know if you get it.
 
My main iPad is the 13” iPad Pro, and I have the external keyboard with it, @Jules , which makes it just about like using a laptop, and it does everything that i need it to do, and is much simpler than using a laptop.
I sent my MacBook to my son because i simply never used it.

My husband has his iPad set to receive phone calls, so he can answer those when he is using his iPad. I prefer having my calls come in on my phone, so I have that option turned off on my iPad; but you can make calls if you have an iPad that is both WiFi/cellular or if it is just WiFi, you can make WiFi calls when you are at home and connected to wifi.

I do not usually take my iPad along with me when I go someplace, so then i use the phone, but it is a lot smaller, and more difficult for me (plus no keyboard) so I do everything as much as possible with the iPad.
I have an iPad Mini that I use just for reading, and I also have recipe and knitting/crochet books in that, and the mini is a good size for both of those, too.
So will the new iPad 11 be, once i get that, but i will still use the Mini for reading .
 
Unless I’m travelling, my iPad stays home too. I create my grocery list on the iPad and read it on my phone. I can see anything on either one. If I need to research something while out, it’s easy. Love both of them.
 
I like the convenience of my iPad….it can do most everything my computer does. My iPad sits comfortably on my lap as I’m watching tv from my recliner. I can read or play games on it during those annoying tv commercial! 🫣
 
I've been thinking of getting an iPad Mini A17 Pro with cellular service. Does anybody here have cellular with their iPad and is it worth it and how much more a month does it cost? TIA.
