When I was growing up, we had delivery from a milkman who brought milk, cream and butter. He put them in a insulated box at the front door. The dairy farm was local, and we visited as a school field trip one year. I think the name was Kuhn's. We got our eggs from a local farm as well, from Mary, "the egg lady."
