I found this board through another discussion forum that I recently joined. I'm 70-married to a better wife than I deserve for 44 years. Both of us met in college at Drake University, she became a mergers and acquisitions attorney and I owned my own company until 1992 when I sold it to a larger corporation. I didn't want to be part of a large corporate structure, so I retired for a few years and my wife took a couple years off and we traveled. She went back to work in 1995 and I started a real estate business in 1996. Seeing what was coming with the housing bubble I cashed out of the real estate game in 2007, and among other things spent some of my time in local politics.
Both my wife and I "officially" retired at the end of 2013. She still sits on a couple of boards and does some pro bono work and I still dabble in local politics. We also started a cemetery mapping company in 2013 and spend some of our time in the summer months mapping out cemeteries and converting the data into a digital format.
We built and moved into our current home in Iowa 20 years ago. We sit on a few acres, and except for a short time after we were married we've always lived a rural lifestyle.
