New Nordic Track Elliptical exercise machine

I kinda went off the deep end yesterday. A local branch of a nationwide store has a great sale on. One item was a Nordic Track E11.7 Elliptical exercise machine so I went over and bought it and they loaded into my van (just barely!). The thing is 80" long plus the packing material and weighs about 300 pounds. I picked up my son who is a big strong guy and together we got it onto the deck and unpacked then moved it inside to our back room that is starting to look more like a commercial gym. I put it together this afternoon.

I'm facing another winter with nothing much to do but read or play on the computer. I don't care for outdoor sports so I thought something like this would be good for me and perhaps I'll get into better shape than I am now. I'm also concerned about my A1C numbers rising. I know I can burn off a little excess blood sugar with exercise.

Last night I tried it out while watching the news. I put it on the lowest settings and could only stand it for a couple of minutes before moving to the exercise bike. As soon as the pain subsided, I went back to it for a few minutes and I went back and forth for a half hour.

Having a quality exercise machine is a Plus. I get plenty of exercise most of the year, but those cold Winter days are too much. I keep a BowFlex machine in the basement, and on cold nasty days, I give myself a good workout with that. Over the long run, having your own is cheaper than paying for a gym membership...and you don't have to venture out in bad weather to go to the gym. Start out easy, and gradually work up to a good 30 minute, or more, routine. Staying fit, as we age, requires a constant routine of proper diet and exercise. Nothing will ruin a Seniors health faster than sitting in front of the TV all day, munching on snacks.

Good Luck with elliptical. I have a lovely one next to the treadmill.....and there it sits. I am debating at the moment in my exercise attire of going and using it, I know the outcome I will hop off and on the treadmill.

I've been a gym member for well over 30 yrs and had to stop going in my mid 60's, arthritic knee got to be too much. I ended up buying a used recumbent bike and it's in my living room and what a cheap good investment. Knee is damaged but I still get on that bike and cycle for a while just to keep it moving. I'm 80.

I have a tread mill and my son bought a Elliptical exercise machine. I use both of them but for the life of me I can't get my arms and legs moving in the right direction all at the same time.
