Hi! I'm new to this forum and just checking out some of the different posts. I live in North Carolina but plan to move the southwest in the next few years. I have family in New Mexico and visit the area at least once a year. Hope everyone is having a great day!

Welcome Shutterbug! There are a few amateur photographers here including myself. I see on your profile you also like hiking and kayaking - I enjoy both of those.

Thanks John and Ameriscot! Looking forward to being part of this community. I have very little experience with these type of forums, so this is a learning experience for me. LOL

Welcome Shutterbug. I'm fairly new here myself. Visited NM last October for the first time and enjoyed the brief time in Santa Fe. Photography is a hobby of mine.

Thanks Bob. New Mexico is a wonderful place for photography. I have 3 nieces that live in Albuquerque and a sister that lives just north of Santa Fe. I always look forward to my next trip to that area.

Hi Shutterbug, from another lover of nature!

Hi Shutterbug. I'm in NC too. There's a lot of beautiful wilderness in the western part of our state…Pisgah Forest is full of waterfalls for one. I used to visit Brevard there and Boone when the kids were at ASU. I used to think about retiring in Valle Crucis (near Boone) after visiting there. But I like being rather close to the coast too.

If I hadn't moved to Scotland I'd probably be living in Wilmington.

Hi Lara. I live just north of Winston-Salem. I actually went camping with a good friend last weekend at Davidson Campground just outside the town of Brevard. We visited several waterfalls while there and had a great time. I'm adding a picture of Dry Falls near Highlands that we stopped at as it was my favorite. My husband (now deceased) and I used to spend a lot of time in the mountains and have been to Valle Crucis several times.

Welcome, Shutterbug! What a striking photo on a very warm day here in Maine. I could feel myself standing underneath the thundering waterfall. I hope you'll be happy here on the forum.

Oh Sutterbug, what a gorgeous photo!! The Light and shadow contrasts are beautiful too, not to mention the waterfall.
Ameriscot, The river walk area of Wilmington is charming and Wrightsville Beach is nice but had a bad year for sharks.

What a beautiful photo! It's going to be 100* here today so that really looks refreshing to me. My oldest granddaughter who will be 21 soon is named Cindy. :)
