New to forums - looking for advice

Hello everyone,

I am new to this forum and unlike a lot of forums I see, this one seems pretty active. I am trying to open a donation account for my grandson, as he is trying to finish college at the University of Central Florida, but he has recently lost his job and cannot afforrd the books that he needs for the upcoming semester. His tuition is paid for by grant money, so that is not an issue. I have been able to help him in the past, but I've recently been laid off from my job with Sears (after 26 years!) and I am unable to help him this go around. He does have a part time job while going to school, but from he tells me this semester the books were quite expensive and there is no way he can afford. Has anybody ever had this predicament or known of someone who has? I wish there was something I can do but my financial situation isn't very good right now. Thank you for any advice. I am just becoming what I consider somewhat computer savy so I am going to continue researching this a bit more. Any insight is much appreciated. Thank you.

Ben

Welcome to the forum Bigben.:)..I'm sorry I can't help with your predicament ( I don't live in the USA) , but it sounds like it's a real worry to you and your grandson. Probably what you're looking for is somewhere that may sell the books he needs at reduced price or perhaps a swap site..I don't know if such a thing exists ..perhaps online.. but I hope someone may come along who may have some more constructive advice for you..

Is a small student loan a possibility? Or maybe a "hustle" type job (delivering pizzas, walking dogs).

If you want to set up some kind of donation account, you have to go to a website like Go Fund Me....search for it on google and you'll get there.

Question Ben?? If you were able to set up a Donation Site, who would you expect to contribute? Seems like other family members and relatives would have the most interest rather than strangers.

Oh----Welcome to SF
