New widower learning to survive

R.I.P. With Us In Spirit Only
When I lost my honey, I lost a wonderful cook. I have been eating frozen foods since she left to wait for me in heaven. She loved chicken wings so before she left I bought 12 of them to cook for her (with her telling me how). I have been afraid to cook them but today I called a friend and she told me how, so they are in the oven now. I'll freeze the in pairs and after microwave reheat, eat them (I hope). I think this is a prime example why most men die first. Women are better equiped at home survival. I'm trying though.

I would be lost also Jim...Frozen all the way!!!!
Well, Ken I have resigned myself that I'll next see my girl will be in heaven, meanwhile I need to survive and I know that's what she would want.

This is my secret when I need a wing fix.

The package contains approx. 6 wing sections and takes about 30 minutes in the toaster oven.

You will never get over your loss but time does have a way of lessening the pain of that loss. One way is to celebrate what you miss (your wife's culinary skill) you can honor her by understanding you're never to old to learn. To that end the recommendation to search the internet for meal prep for a single person is a great solution.

As we age there is that nagging thought that one of us will be the survivor. She has been a great cook for the 59 years that we have been married. Me,not so good. I have gained 40 pounds in that time which speaks for her skills.

If she is the survivor then transportation becomes the major issue, since she has not driven in about 6 years because of the meds she takes.
