New Year on the way, (I wonder what challenging discussion we'll manage next year?)

Old codger
Its nearly here, New Year and all that, (Pipedream of trip up to bonnie Scotland put to one side yet again! :( ).

Never mind, we can all try to have some kind of fun, both getting to the new year and thereafter one would hope! :)

I'm thinking that supply chain issues will crop up, gas may drop further. We might get three to four mass shootings (over 13 fatalities each and yes, I support owning guns, just not wanton murder)

Three surprising celebrity deaths, 12 not surprising. Stock market plunge after Russia drops a nuke on Ukraine. (Major outside guess, probably not going to happen)

A few scandals too...... Strap on, going to be a wild one!

I'm no expert on things such as these but
I've heard tell that Armageddon gets closer
every day. The end of the world might make
a good topic for a challenging discussion!
Not to go astray, but the "Events" that are to occur are coming. Like the "Burning mountain cast into the sea"

It's name is "Apophis" at least it's believed that it's the asteroid to hit earth. Not sure whose second.

Its funny, sometimes I start what I believed must be a completely harmless thread, only for it to go down hill pretty quickly, but this one already reaching a discussion about the end of the world from the get go takes the biscuit!

Lighten up y'all, its a bright shiny new year a cummin! :)

Not everyone sees things as black or white.
There also are shades of gray. Challenging concept that it is but you asked, I gave my thoughts. Why mention what’s already been
said? Where’s the challenge in that?
I do accept that, you were justified in coming up with the things you did, but it surprised me really, so that was all I meant to say. :)

Where’s the challenge in only considering ordinary ideas, I say,
or the fun of doing only what’s considered to be ordinary. Namaste!
Namaste hey, (had to check its meaning I admit!).
We'll see how long a peaceful New Year persists on any threads we engage in, my guess being it will be a miracle if I get to the end of January without a run in of some kind. :)

@grahamg When I read your thread about avoiding do-gooders, it made me think of something called "Savior complex" (sometimes called "White Knight"). I am sure you have heard about it but, It's where some people feel they need to be the savior and often will only feel good about themself when they are "saving" someone else. Might be an interesting subject for you to add to your future list of topics :)

Good idea, (should I wait until February in order to avoid risking my new years resolution to avoid arguments in January? :) ).

I was tempted to say we have probably covered everything of interest. However I am sure @grahamg will find something!
We'll be able to reheat the old arguments won't we, that's always an option, though in intend to resist any temptation to get involved till February at least, (may have slipped up a little already though! :( ).
