Would you pay such high prices in an average hotel per night...have you ever paid such huge prices to stay in a hotel?

Think I might start renting rooms put here..I'll make a fortune charging just half that price..LOL

Yes... and Yes... I have flown to NY for the weekend and paid that much. We stay at the Sheraton Times Square in midtown. It is what it is.. To me it's just as expensive to stay in downtown Chicago, it depends where you stay. You can find good hotels cheaper...but in NY.. it's all about location.

I think the most we've paid was £186 ($278) for the Dubai Airport Hotel, and we've stayed about 4 or 5 times. We think it's well worth it as it's to break up long haul flights, and with the executive room you get free food and drink including alcohol. It's the only hotel inside the airport so you don't have to go through immigration and security etc by going to a hotel outside the airport. A porter meets you right off your flight and takes you up to the check in desk.

We've stayed in London many times but always find deals. Can't remember the most expensive room but it's always under £100. One year we stayed for something like £45 a night at a new hotel and it was very close to Liverpool Street Station. So excellent location.

I recommed that while staying in NYC you stick close the the epicenter... (ie Time Square)... even if it does cost more. We feel very safe walking to Broadway shows and restaurants.. It's true what the song says... It's the city that never sleeps.. there is always hustle and bustle.. even at 3am... And the police have a huge presence. So it's worth it to me.

Remembered a lodge we stayed in when we lived in Uganda. We stayed there for our 7th and 8th wedding anniversaries, and as part of a safari package when family came to visit. It was about $280/night including all meals (gourmet).

I'd love to stay there again on future trips but the price is much higher now and it's a waste of time to spend only one night.
