I'm so happy to find this forum! I'm looking forward to finding and making friends my age. I still work alto, I retired after working as a hairdresser for almost 20yr's, now I drive a school bus and I'm in my 22 n'd year. I'm afraid to retire! I don't know what I would do without to sixty screaming kids twice a day! I'm might get a little bored.
I love Folk music. I play the Mountain Dulcimer and Mandolin. I play at a lot of senior centers and nursing homes. I hope to find some like minded people here.

Hello! Sixty screaming kids twice a day sounds like . . . fun...

You know, Folk Music is making quite a comeback as Americana. It has a modern take but is still fantastic. Have always been fascinated with the dulcimer. What a great sound. Look forward to your visits here.

Welcome, Clamity J!! You've more stamina than I; driving a school bus. :drive: Keeping busy helps to keep us young. :)

Love that kind of music; it's pretty much what I grew up with!!

Welcome Calamity J...love your handle..I always said if I had lived way back when I would have been a cross between Calamity and Annie O....

We live in the Arkansas Ozarks and are close to Mountain View, which they tout as the Folk Music capital. They have a square in the middle of town where on the weekends when musicians congregate to jam with their mountain instruments, dulcimers, fiddles, mandolins, etc. They have big festivals a couple of times a year and a couple of music "barns" where they have concerts every week. There are also a couple of dulcimer shops where they make and repair them. This is a great place to be if you enjoy that music.

You must have the patience of a saint to be able to deal with all those chillun...wow!

Thanks for the warm welcome everyone! I've been to Mountain View a few times my husbands family is from there. He was born there but only stayed for 6 months. My nick name has always been Clmaity Jane. because I was always such a tom boy and could shoot better than some of them.
