Newbie looking to move…..again.

Many factors here. DO you have extended family....where do THEY live. Do you want to be near them? Do you want seasonal weather changes? Check cost of living, housing etc
Exactly; the cost is a huge factor. I know first hand many people (including myself) who'd be better off living in different areas but for whom the cost to move and just barely live would be unaffordable.

Welcome from Atlanta, Waterman.
Around here there is a lot of variation from suburb to suburb. It would be impossible to paint them all with the same brush. That is probably true with other cities.

Thank you. I like Atlanta, well maybe not the traffic. Haha

I have extended family. It’s why I came to Texas. Weather is important. I enjoy change of seasons and don’t mind a chilly night. Cost of living is the biggest factor.

I have lived in 4 states. I'll list them in order how I liked them.

1. New York (Mainly because of New York City)
2. Florida (Couldn't live there now. I'm too political)
3. California (Mainly because of Los Angeles. It was a big expensive and dirty city when I was there.)
4. New Jersey (Lived there for 6 months, and left).

Funny, but when we left South Florida and moved to Texas 18 years ago it was due to the low cost of living. We bought a much nicer house for less than the one we left. That is no longer the case. We live in a little sleepy neighborhood near one of the big lakes and now the houses are going for more than double what we paid due to the location and the influx of out-of-staters. We just had a couple from Northern CA move into our neighborhood. They own a winery and are in the process of retiring. I never thought our little enclave of homes would be so desirable.

Aside from the summer heat, we love everything about Dallas. The leaves changing, the arts, the culture, the nature, the relatively mild winters, the friendly people, etc. The traffic is only bad if we go outside our local bubble or travel during rush hour.

I would have recommended it if you weren't already in Texas.

Welcome to our forum! Can't give you any advice on where to move. I always like what nobody else does.
