Hello to everyone, My name is Gil, and I'm 71 yrs. old. I have been a lifetime artist and now a new author whose first book will be released this summer.
The book is called 'A Walk Back Home.' Its a humorus book about a child artist growing up in the 1940s and 50s Los Angeles. Its about fun memories of those great days. Have any of you written your memories down of your childhood? Please do so for your children. It is so important!

Welcome Gil. I too have written several short stories of my childhood memories as I remember them. I am 76 years old and enjoy reminiscing of days gone by.
i have considered a book but for now I write them on my notes and print them out and place in a binder. Again, welcome to the forum.

Thanks Falcon and Pappy. It's the little tisbits that you'll take to your grave about the little you might know about your family and your ancestors that is so important to your children, and grandchildren. Pappy that binder of memories is wonderful. You can read excerpts of the book at: gilgarciasawalkbackhome.blogspot.com

Welcome Gil and thank you for sharing that link with us. We are a family for artists here so I would be thrilled to read your book! Recently we gathered old pictures from every family member we could reach and we are turning it into books to pass on to the relatives. My job was to find out dates and names (it was exhausting but worth it).

Hi Gil, it's nice you decided to join us. I'm happy for you about your upcoming publication. Writing in such a way to hold a reader's attention is a talent. You must possess that quality and that's great, because you obviously find it a rewarding experience. I don't write as you do, because I haven't got that sort of attention span and determination to get it done. The best I can do is to compose a poem occasionally.

Hi Gil, welcome to the forum. Congratulations on your work, your book. Sometime when I'm alone with my computer, I pretend I'm a writer, and record some of life's experiences and memories that have not forsaken me. Again, welcome.
