NJT Light Rail Train Strikes Fallen Tree Killing Engineer

How very tragic .. my heart goes out to the conductor's family.
Heavy rail commuter and passenger companies adopted the concept of a blended passenger movement service. Light rail and busses were basically used for short and medium distance commuters and heavy rail systems were used for medium to long distances. Light rail being to blended rail providers are buses on rails but being electric powered. The safety issue is they are extremely close to vehicular traffic causing lost to lives and highway and light rail infrastructure in the event of a collision. The only light rail system I am familiar with was the historic Newark Subway System using PCC cars and completely separated from street traffic.

I saw this headline on one of my news apps. What a terrible tragedy. Her children are now without a mother at such a young age and who knows what the situation is with the father. I took the train to Hoboken, N.J. and walked over to the Jersey City side on Tuesday. I have to pass where the light rails pull in when I do that (totally different lines though). They seem different than the regular trains somehow.
