No Salad Mixes in Grocery

I promised to make tossed salad for the church fellowship meal on Sunday. I went to the store bright and early this morning only to find the bagged salad mix section devoid of content. I asked a person that was stocking the produce and she said that Dole was cyber hacked and I probbaly wouldn't find any of their products in any store for a while. Just my luck.

Deb, just wash the lettuce in how water then rinse briefly in cold water, tear it up and place in a plastic bag with thinly sliced red onion and yellow pepperconi peppers . Toss with your chosen dressing when you get to church. You are good to go. If its good enough for Olive Garden, its good enough for church. Got bread, too?

I was going to order a salad to pickup from Red Robin yesterday and they had a notice about a nationwide lettuce shortage. Maybe it’s weather related.
I got a head of lettuce at the store this morning but that is the most pathetic looking head of lettuce I've ever seen! I didn't realize it was in shortage again. Can't remember if lettuce is among the seeds we bought for the garden. I should check on that.

For years I bought or grew all the various greens and wound up throwing a lot of it away. I love the bag salads. I recently bought a dole product that is half arugula and half baby spinach to add to the mix. Guess I'll have to wait for that.

I feel your pain. I usually get romaine hearts at Walmart. Well Tuesday there was nothing but an empty shelf. I asked the kid stocking potatoes if there was any romaine lettuce back in the stockroom. He said maybe some will come in tomorrow. Then he said Walmart is out of a lot of stuff. No kidding. I thanked him and said that's all I wanted to know. I went to the store down the road and got three packages of romaine hearts for the week.

We eat a lot of lettuce, but I haven't run out yet, so I'm know sure what we have in our stores.

I have been buying enough to last about a month. When I get the whole lettuce home (romaine or baby in box), I cut a sliver off root end. Baby goes back in box w/water & romaine goes in new plastic bag w/water & tied shut to cover the root ends. I dump out water when it begins to begins to look cloudy & refill. I haven't lost any lettuce doing this so far.

Thank you, Remy. Others must have thought so, too. It was all gone when I went to get the bowl. Several people complimented me about it. One time I took pasta salad and hardly anyone touched it. I put a photo of it someplace (here or on Facebook) and someone commented that it had too many ingredients. The more you put into something, the more likely there'll be something that someone won't like. So I now go by the acronym KISS - Keep It Simple, Stupid. This salad was Solata Farms Spring mix, Green Giant Rainbow slaw, some sliced grape tomatoes, black olives and Greek salad dressing.

I heard back from the hotdog company - I don't think their explanation is the reason. It looks more like something that happened during processing:

Thank you for visiting our website.

I apologize that your Turkey Franks had an unusual appearance. I truly understand your concerns.

This is a very unusual situation, as we have extensive quality control programs in all our facilities, including on-line and finished product inspections. Every effort is made to ensure that all our products reach our consumers in a satisfactory condition, but we have limited control once they leave our facilities. Irregular storage conditions during distribution, such as temperature abuse or humidity can negatively impact the product's appearance. We are sorry that these circumstances have impacted you, and we will forward your comments to the appropriate staff to help prevent this from happening again.

I hope this information is helpful, and again, I apologize for this experience. Thank you for your loyalty and I hope that your next experience is a good one.

Temperature abuse? 😂😅😂 So when we heat them up that's abuse?? Seriously it looks like they walked right by your issue. Did they give you coupons for free ones???

Don't you just love the generic response for everything that is supposed to be "the" answer?

I agree with Wigglestein & that they give you some coupons.

Temperature control wouldn't make pieces disappear! This is a "cover a$$" reply shunting the responsibility onto another source. I'll see if I get any coupons. They usually take 7 to 10 business days to arrive.
If they didn’t promise any coupons, don’t count on them.

Did you return the package to the grocery store.

Years ago I had a package of bread with a great long dark hair in the right down the middle. I emailed a photo and they said they’d send me a coupon. That’s what they sent - one coupon. I wrote back and politely told them what to do with their coupon. They apologized and sent several more that I threw away. I never bought their products again.

I will return them when I have to go into town next time. I'm not making a special 10 mile round trip just for that.

Maybe the company assumes I will return them and get satisfaction from the store.

I did get a coupon in the mail for one OM item of equal or lesser value than what I paid. With grocery prices soaring, I doubt I can find anything of equal or lesser value than what I paid which was $5.99 for the package.
