No to Duck, Duck Goose foie gras

In the news today. However, not really news worthy but all the Royal family will expose to media at this time.
My question is: Is this what is at the top of Charles' list of important matters?

Charles Has Banned One Of Kate's Fave Foods From All Royal Residences

King Charles is taking a stand against...*checks notes*... foie gras.
The Telegraph reported that the monarch has reportedly banned the controversial food—which is made via the cruel practice of force-feeding ducks/geese until their livers enlarge—from all royal residences.
The Palace themselves confirmed this news in a letter to animal rights group PETA (People for Ethical Treatment of Animals).
The Telegraph reported that England's new pen-hating monarch has reportedly banned the controversial food—which is made via the cruel practice of force-feeding ducks/geese until their livers enlarge—from all royal residences. Meaning, it will not be served at any of the following locations: Balmoral Castle (where the royals summer), Sandringham (where the royals spend Christmas), Windsor Castle (which is currently unoccupied), Hillsborough Castle (the royals' official residence in Ireland), and Buckingham Palace (we all know what Buckingham Palace is).

The Palace themselves confirmed this news in a letter to animal rights group PETA (People for Ethical Treatment of Animals), saying that foie gras is neither purchased nor sold by the royal household. They also said in their letter that “there are no plans for this policy to change.”

The Daily Mail and The Sun reported that foie gras has been one of Kate Middleton's preferred menu items in the past, so...TBD on how she feels about this.

Either way, Charles has been campaigning against foie gras for a while, and The Telegraph reported that in 2008 he banned all chefs in his own personal residences from serving it. He also almost withdrew a fancy royal warrant from one of his local cheese shops because they sold foie gras.

PETA vice president Elisa Allen put out a statement saying that others should “follow the King’s lead and leave foie gras off the menu this Christmas and beyond." She also added that "video footage of birds being painfully force-fed is enough to make anyone lose their lunch," and apparently sent King Charles an entire "hamper" of something called "faux gras."

Well that's a good thing. But it may be just me, I have no desire to eat the entrails of any creature, humanely harvested or not.
I understand this is an animal protection from abuse. My question above is why is this the most important news coming from Buckingham Palace? With so much going on in their country, Charles chooses to focus on ducks and geese.
It boggles my mind...

I think this came up more than a decade ago, the Prince got called out, PETA got involved and then came the news there would be no more of this product served in his households. He did not say that he never ate it or did not like the product as fas as I remember. He did have the sense to bow to public opinion and exclude it from menus in his home.

The question I have does he eat it at other locations, outside of his home, the palaces? Does he not realize shooting, killing a wild game bird, a deer can also be seen the same by some. These creatures are not raised for human consumption, like cows, chickens, ducks, geese, pigs, sheep and goats. We use their by products, milk, cream, butter, eggs, cheese, where do people think that all comes from? Should he also ban those items? Good grief, it is not a pleasant thing to kill a live lobster but I have no doubt he enjoys lobster.

These are animals born in the wild, creatures to admire and protect. A game animal is not bred for the sole purpose of feeding humans but it is okay to still take their lives? Yea, Yea, I know, I will shut up.

I cannot recall the RF commenting on any public family dramas in the past so I would be surprised if they did this time. I guess, it is as good a policy as any to carry on regardless.

This is true, however I wasn't referring to the family events. I meant topics like immigration, high energy costs, well being of the Brits in general during this time of Covid, the crisis in Ukraine......don't they comment or rally around the citizens of UK?

It's another animal cruelty issue, similar to caged chickens, I guess. It's just seems more unusual. The king happened to notice, and then the media noticed that he noticed, and now we all notice.

I think the then Prince of Wales (Charles) did comment on Covid on behalf of Age UK but, as a rule, they are expected to keep out of politics and remain impartial on most things and busy themselves with garden parties, walk-abouts, shaking hands with commoners and attending the opening of fetes and bookshops ... oh!:oops::)

Me, too! And liver and onions is a favorite meal of mine.
I LOVE liver and onions with gravy. I don't make it. I get it from a restaurant near our timeshare when I go down for more than a couple of days (they give enough for 3 servings). I never could get my son to eat liver.
