So, I saw a offering on craigslist. Tent for $149 the picture I've included. And I emailed the seller of my interest. He's still got it. So today I hit my storage unit and though "Why do I want that?"

Where I live now will permit it, but what if another place wants me to move? Wasted $150 plus. We get 40-65 mpg gusts at times. Once we had 6 people with canopies. Now, none.

If I had a house, it's be great for a backyard or some picnic for friends to gather under. So, I don't have a house. So why do I think I can use such?

Sheesh, just talked myself out of it. Hopefully for good.

It's really lovely but if you don't have a house where would you put it?

I don't quite understand.....what do you mean when you say '' what if another place wants me to move ''?...what other place ?

There's other places here in Vancouver the homeless are located. Hope village and the Outpost. 20 mini homes for 1-2 people, but you cannot bring much in.

Next step would be permanent subsidized housing.

No, not something you need. Better to hold onto the money. I just feel so bad for you. I know you can't be comfortable in the van. Even a small room for rent with kitchen benefits and a bath would be better. I hope you are able to find an affordable place soon.
Thank you, yes I've increased the area to Longview, WA so as to have more opportunities. In April I may see if Yakima has some also.

Seems like you are pretty invested in that part of the country. I can see why you like it there but you should also consider othe areas for a home. At a certain point we have to realize as much as we love something we have to give up and move on. As you get older, you will need a stable place. A little home with a kitchen, bath, laundry area and living space. It may just be a studio apartment but everything you need could be right there.

I am lucky, I have my own home free and clear, I have a good size back yard for the pups. I have a washer and dryer. Still, I know that the day may come I might not be able to stay here. I may need a small apartment, have some help. That is all good, the only thing I worry about is not being able to take my dogs with me. I do try to stay up to date on retirement communities in my area, the cost, if they accept pets etc. Continue to look, be aware of any new housing that might become available to you.

You could be generous & buy it to donate it to the governor of Texas to use as a temporary bus shelter for outgoing migrants.

Well, yes I'm in search for a subsidized apartment. However, so is 4500 other people in the state.

Yes, any place I get most likely will accept pets, but dogs are to be small, but cats are prefurred as I don't mind small dogs, but prefer the 60+lb class.

Anyway, tomorrow have to fill propane up. Fri-sun is supposed to drop to mid 20's.

I've got solid heat and flannel sheets and a sleeping bag. But as I've said before, those who live in tents I pray for.

,I understand the position you are in and about those who struggle even more. People here have availabe shelter to get out of the cold, have access to food but many chose not to take advantage. there are things that keep them from the help they need.

I think your need is based on the fact there is just not enough housing to accomodate those in need. I just don't get it, how Americans can allow people to suffer this way. They only want a tiny space where they can have a roof, heat, cooling, a place to cook and a bathroom. I have never had the need for assistance but am glad programs are there for shelter and food. I also admit they are many that take advantage of government programs that take benefits away from those that need it the most. I wonder if they keep track of the husing that is available all over the country and that information is made available to those in need. If I needed a home, I would be willing to move to a place that had housing. Might not be thrilled but I would rather have a home than suffer.

Talked yourself out of it, well done you. I can resist anything............except temptation!

Let me explain temptation, better still, let me show you temptation. Now I could well be a few or more grand, well off. But what I wouldn't be, is someone who has enjoyed not resisting to that awful trait of temptation. Instead I know what my predecessors enjoyed when they fed a coin right into the slot:

My jukebox still has pride of place at home. The vinyl records still have that hiss and scratch that digital would never have and I so love the records from the past.

Impulse, is buying, an outrageous Harley Davidson Heritage Springer. We had that bike for the best part of eight years, never had a wobble, near miss or spill. We loved it, but an offer of about twenty percent more than it's purchase price persuaded us that, perhaps it's time to say farewell to two wheels. So we did, and what do you think that we did with the money? Put it in the bank of course. Salted it away for a rainy day or leave it safe for those who inherit all our worldly goods, to enjoy. Yeah right!

We bought a vintage MG and we are still in love with it!
