I saw this on the news this morning. The people in N. Korea must live in a miserable world, with limited modern conveniences.....but, their FatA$$ leader seems to live quite well, and has plenty of finances to pose a nuclear threat to the world.

Not really new. North Korea has been has been pitch black at night for years. Read an interesting story a few years ago. A young North Korean guy was working near the border when a colorful plastic pasta wrapper blew across from the South. He took one look at that wrapper, which was unlike anything he had ever seen, realized that the government had been lying to him all his life, and ran across the border. (-8

I have been to Inchon in South Korea. Wasn’t Impressed with anything, except their cheap prices on almost everything.

I read this book a few years ago. He was born in Japan, but was moved to North Korea at a young age. It’s a look into his life there. It’s an interesting read. It’s heart wrenching at times.

South Korea is a prosperous place. Check out these skylines, and I have to admit we love our Hyundai. The Koreans are smart people. A Korean neighbor has 3 daughters -- two PhD, and the third a Masters.

States and countries will most always show the best parts of their areas. I have been to Korea and would never consider living there. Most of it is a dump. Same for Taiwan. Taipei downtown is beautiful, but once you leave that area , the rest of the country is pretty much a $hithole.

Never been there myself, and never thought of moving there, but in all fairness they must be doing something right. The car I drive (Hyundai), very happy with it, and the screen I'm looking at as well as our TV, both Samsung -- one of Apples biggest competitors and very big in the smart phone market. Looking at it from an economic perspective, in GDP per capita terms South Korea of course trails the US, but beats the UK, France, Italy, and Japan, among others.
