Thursday morning I had to call 911. Rick was feverish and chills. Plus a lot confusing in speech patterns. Got brought in to ED. Stayed there until last night before they got him a room. His heart rate was erratic in A fib. Very anxious. Did chest x Ray. Turns out he has pneumonia. They also put him on a c pap machine last night.
They will be doing a sleep study tonight and if he has sleep apnea they can prescribe a c pap machine for home.

So sorry to hear that, Marie. Good that your husband is now being treated and all best thoughts and wishes for a speedy recovery and a good diagnosis for whatever needs to be done to get him on his feet for a healthy, happy 2019. And I'm sorry for all the stress this has put on you.

Oh Marie, what a scary time for you, and your husband. I can only reiterate Olivias' post...and wish him a very speedy recovery!!

Good they found out what was going on with your husband, Marie. I'm sure he is in good hands & he is lucky to have you, too! Wishing him a quick recovery.

I left the hospital early because he was not having a good day, and nurses wanted him to rest. They had put him on a strong oxygen machine. He was finally resting.
I was a bit worried, but as I was starting to type a response a couple minutes ago, he called. Said they took Oxygen mask off, and just have the vent into his nose. He found some football on the TV, and asked if I would sneak him in a cheeseburger tomorrow because the food sucked.

If he's looking for cheeseburgers, I take that as a good sign but I would ask the doc first.

You make sure you get rest and take care of yourself, Marie!

Thanks for the update.

He wants cheeseburger, he will get either a turkey burger or a chicken sandwich. Will probably hard boil some eggs tonight and bring him a couple, he can have some eggs.

He is on a "Heart Healthy/low sodium diet." Today for lunch they gave him a pulled pork sandwich on a white hamburger bun. Not exactly sure how heart healthy that is.

Oh, not good...might be better for you to take his food in for him Marie, but I'm pleased that he's rallying... you must be very relieved. I hope he's better very soon...

Right now they have him on an IV drip saline as he was finding it hard to eat solid food without it being hard to breathe. It will give him calories and hydration.
Doctor was and said he is doing OK. Just have to get oxygen up

Might be good to ask for a consultation with the hospital Dietician. Just saline won't give nutrition. Lots of liquid nutritional alternatives available. One frequent scientific criticism of hospital care is that they starve their patients unnecessarily, sometimes actually slowing recovery.

Doctor came in a few minutes ago. Rick asked about solid food. He is going to have the respiratory spec. Come in. If he can tolerate being off the oxygen mask they will send him in some solid food.
They had him on the oxygen tube into his nose, but it was not keeping his level up enough. The mask pushes in more oxygen.

Sorry to hear of all the stress Marie. Hope husband gets better.

Two friends ended up with afib a couple yrs ago and both were NOT taking adequate magnesium. Do some research and you will see the mag and afib connection. Many are deficient in magnesium and the many worthless MDs don't go there with this issue...sad for sure. I love the holistic medicine life of being on top of what our body needs. And especially as we are aging..body is depleting of a lot and minerals for sure. Take care and get the minerals checked.
