Nuclear Power Generation Worldwide

Take a look at this chart. 4 countries generate 50% or more of their total power by nukes. Despite sentiment popularly against nukes, 11% of ALL POWER generated in these countries is done so by nuclear reaction. Nukes are not going away, IMO. imp

Nuclear power by Country in 2014[SUP] [11] [/SUP]

I tried to add an edit explaining why two posts, it's just sitting there, won't "save". Sorry. imp

I kind of think you're right that Nuclear reactors are here to stay for at least the next long while. I watched a show a few months ago that talked about them and it was saying that they (whoever 'they' are???) are working on developing reactors that shut themselves down the minute there is any kind of problem such as happened Fukushima. Seems like that would take care of one problem (the 'meltdown' factor) and would leave only one other major problem to deal with which is what to do with the spent fuel rods. That documentary also mentioned that 'they' are working on ways to get a second use out of them on another type of reactor which might mean they were less dangerous than a single usage. Can't remember the exact details.
