Jim, I assume your car is garaged and there's a door leading directly into your garage if you need to go someplace? Of course, if you have to go to a store for instance, you'd probably have to walk from the car to the store. I've spent considerable time in Arizona and I like it. You have some incredible geological wonders, scenic beauty, and Flagstaff and Tucson are nice cities (not crazy about Phoenix). But I wouldn't want to spend one minute outdoors in that heat. Much as I love beer, it wouldn't help! :(
 
Happened to be in Las Vegas once when the temps hit 107F. The humidity was very low. You could feel the heat on your skin, but it wasn't unpleasant at all. Even though I heard about how much difference the humidity makes, I didn't really believe it until that day. Not at all like here in the tropical southeast.:p
 
It was 115 yesterday. Glinda, I am not in Phoenix, I live in a great little city called Surprise. I am with you on Phoenix. I have a big central air unit, a door into my garage from the house, into air conditioned car and off to air conditioned store. Everything out here is AC'd. Surprise is in the Phoenix metro area but many miles from the city.

Davey, That temp post above changes daily, minute by minute. When I posted it yesterday the temp was 114.3. It went to 115 officially.
 
One time in my life I experienced temps of 115, it was in Palm Springs.. I really don't get that "BUT it's a dry heat" concept.. It was HOT... my feet could feel the pavement through my sneakers and the skin on my arms was tingling.. Horrible.. Never would I want to be in that kind of heat..

The answer to the "but it's dry heat" is..."Yes, but so is my oven!"
 
It's true that high humidity makes heat worse but IMO once you get over 90 degrees, it's extremely oppressive anyway. :(
