Odd behaviour of chicken

One of our neighbours keeps chickens. These are real free range birds that wander freely round the village, but return to their coop every evening - except one. While the other birds roost in their cage, one white chicken climbs / flies up a tree and roosts there.
No idea why it does this. Maybe it just likes sleeping on its own.

Still getting woken up by the rooster at am.

Growing up we always had laying hens, pullets, Roosters and also the Chinese Banty bunch.
They flew wild as wished, the other regular chickens we clipped their flight feathers to keep them in
tall chicken wire enclosures and the hen houses. Peace came when the roosters were butchered in
late fall. Having always been kept separate from the hens to keep their eggs good.

Every Late Winter a new bunch of chickens would arrive to go into the Chicky-house special warm for the
lil chickees to grow up in. They all had their special field to be in.

400 yards East of the house in the opposite direction were the Cattle barns and hog houses / lots

The Chinese chickens were so magnificent in their cocky bunches. The lonely & proud Roosters all separate.

I know sometimes chickens will try to hide where predators can’t get them like foxes.

When I was young we moved to a rural area from the city. Neighbors across the had chickens and his dogs used to chase them. Well, after watching for a few minutes I became concerned and went over to help the chickens. My neighbor and Dad just laughed. They told me that's how they play. And yep, they did it all the time
