Oh, goody. Hoarders is on tonight.

Watching tonight's episode. I watch it a lot. Gets me to clean. I found it interesting a couple weeks back when I had the dumpster and a few friends here to get rid of a lot of the 30 years of accumulated stuff that is not coming to apartment with me. Furniture, old clothes and just stuff. I felt like I was in an episode of the show.

I am far from a hoarder, but I pretty much sat there giving OK to get rid off or keep.

The cleaning expert, Matt Paxton, wrote a book called The Secret Life of Hoarders. A good read. As a Social Worker I am always interested in the mental health issues that bring them to this point
That's what I wait for too @Marie5656 to see that they get mental health therapy after going thru all that physical and emotional draining stuff....
I've watched so many shows that I can't bring myself to watch anymore cuz its always the same theme, different people and locations and always saddens me to a further extent knowing they have deep mental issues :(.....feels like they're being demeaned and publicly embarrased on t.v.....

I wish there was a follow-up show that caught up with the hoarders a year or two later. Hoarding is like alcoholism. You never become an ex-alcoholic, just a recovering alcoholic. The desire never leaves you; you just learn how to resist the desire.

There used to be a follow up show here, and quite often people had slowly started to build another hoard.. one room had more than it should have, but the hoarder always had an excuse for it...

I always feel so much better about not vacuuming and dusting when I watch Hoarders. I think tonight's show is the last of the season. Are the seasons getting shorter or is the time going faster?

On Monday nights I have to stay up later so I can watch the rerun of Anderson Cooper's show. But...Hoarders...who can resist a train wreck?
Either on TV or written about who can resist a train wreck?
Kinda like the lawn darts post & so many more.

This has been illegal for decades, but I have them. I remember my dad getting it back in the 70s. Can't put them out to sell because of that, but to toss them seems harsh for such a nostalgic game.

have you ever noticed on hoarders you cant use the bathroom or the kitchen sink or stove but the people that lived there are clean and their hair is fixed nice

I knew a couple that had 27 cats and because of heavy use of ammonia to counter the stink in their home they both had thinning hair and olive like complexions and were very skinny.
