Oh No, I Got A Chain Letter

I thought the silly things were obsolete but apparently not, received an email version today. The sender must have been hard pressed to dig up victims to send it to as I have not heard from her in years.

Anyone else got one lately, they were the big thing years ago. I think the cost of postage stopped the practice of sending them.

Never got one in my whole life. Lucky me; I guess. I don't believe in chain letters. "if you don't send this along; something terrible will happen". What a bunch of BULL! Some people just don't have any hobbies or meaningful relationships. They should visit the local library & get some books to read rather than bother other people with garbage. Life is complicated enough.

I occasionally get an e-mailed chain-type message admonishing me to forward it to x-number of people. They usually try to manipulate you emotionally by saying that in doing so, you’ll show that you care, or will enjoy “blessings” or good fortune. I don’t care to burden people with spam or waste their time and mine, so I ignore and delete such messages...

Oh. I thought this was going to be one of those "Kind sir, I am the widow of a [some kind of well-placed person in a foreign country], and I need to move $__,000,000 out of my country, which I will share with you if only you will give me [a complete stranger] your bank details."

I've gotten two email chain letters since the lockdown. I did not respond to either. Such a waste of time.

I got a recipe email chain letter a couple of weeks ago and didn't respond.

Chain letters spread email addresses to places you don't want them to go! ..... ignore, delete.

I haven't had one for years, thank goodness. I think I must have scared off those who were constantly sending them.

I got one a short time after my husband died. It was from a distant acquaintance who didn't know about his death but it said "Don't break this chain. Mrs. Mary Smith of Chicago did and her husband died three weeks later!" I sent her a blistering reply that I didn't appreciate it personally and that she shouldn't be saying that to anyone. Luckily, I never heard from her again.
