Oh Yay, Hurricane Joaquin Might Be on the Way

I feel bad for all the furkids who are so fearful during regular thunderstorms, I can't imagine how upset they are during hurricane conditions. :( Hope it blows out to sea, and you stay safe Fur.

Thank you, I hope so too, my brother lives at the shore so they really keep watch on this stuff. And yep poor Sophie, she has three safe places. For day to day hiding she squeezes under the rocking chair. For light rain or thunder under the desk. For a heavy duty storm, in the dark upstairs bathroom. There are no windows so it keeps the scary out. When she was younger there was one night when I woke up to bumpbumpbump...then it got louder BUMPbumpBUMP...the space between bed and floor is maybe ten inches. She squeezed her whole self under there and was stuck. Prying her out was like watching the mattress give birth.

My Hans was frightened during thunder storms, stuck to me like glue, followed me from room to room, even the bathroom. Panted heavily and was very unsettled, didn't want to go in the yard to potty, I felt so bad for him. But I know there are much worse cases, like your Sophie, who get stressed to the max. I tried some holistic flower relaxation remedies, but they didn't do a thing.

The prediction now is that the worst of it will head out to sea. Of course coastal flooding could be a mess. but it could have been much worse. From what I've heard Long Island is bracing itself for flash flooding. So far we're just getting heavy rain.

Apparently the storm slowed up which is why the dump of water. Some areas to get 15 inches of rain. Slower movers can grind an area down slowly but steadily even with out hurricane strength winds. Some areas could also get micro tornadoes. Lots of flooding. It would be nice if Joaquin would check into that hurricane retirement home called The North Atlantic as soon as possible.
