Okay now I am getting mad! - who's jabbing that voodoo doll that looks like me???

Geeze, wasn't it enough that I'm gimpy and my eye isn't working right after cataract surgery? Oh no, now the powers that be have sent a tropical storm. Forecast - up to eight inches of rain. It's raining now.

What if the eye doc says I must come into his office? My little electric car isn't made for swimming. I should have known - when I opened my laptop an ant ran across the keyboard!

Okay, you with the voodoo doll - go stick those pins somewhere else!

Jan....I'm laughing with you. We stay in FL 7 months a year and chew our fingernails while up north waiting to see what happens during bad weather season.

very familiar with ants. Sugar ants we call them. Darn things get in everything. Just about the time we get rid of them, we come back up north and the cycle starts all over again.

Be careful out there in the rain. It can downpour one minute and 20 minutes later, you wouldn't know it had rained.

we have a drainage canal behind our place and that is my rain gauge. It has gotten very high some years but hasn't flooded, even when we had 20 inches of rain a few years back. The streets were impassable but the canal did its job. Stay safe, Jan.

Yeah, but it's a dry rain ...

I don't know what to say, Jan, other than it isn't ME sticking that voodoo doll ...

... but if you'd like some sweet vengeance you can visit this free Voodoo Doll Torturing site - you can even NAME it! :playful:

Yes, Pappy, don't you just love this sandy state? I hit my first amazement when we needed a new well. It took the guy less than an hour to put it in! I come from clay and rock Pennsylvania where well drilling is a major operation. And you are right, I don't have a canal but I have a ditch behind the house for drainage. Seldom gets anything in it, but I can depend on it turning into a stream if the promised rain happens; and the way it looks outside right now it probably will. I hope it drowns the ants! The one that visited me was a big old fire ant. So glad he didn't bite because they hurt like the dickens! I'll check back in later if my head is above water.

Regarding ants - I don't actually have a problem with them. The guy that appeared on my laptop was just a stray. Since this is Florida I have a monthly bug man, who actually just called to say he'll be here on Monday. And I have plenty of stuff to put down should I see a problem. What I worry about with this weather is snakes. Last year I found a shedded skin in my flower bed and took it to be identified. COTTONMOUTH RATTLER! Now if I got something like that in my house I'd really freak! So far I am safe a snug with no other critters than my two bossy cats.

The snake visitors would be enough for me to move somewhere else. Seriously!!!!!!!!!!! We are supposed to get the system as you Jan, although I'm hoping it doesn't hit as hard. Take care and stay inside where it is dry!!!

Sorry, Jan. It's probably me. I was trying to work some voodoo magic to help with your medical madness. Might have been reading the wrong chapter in my guide book . . .
