Thank u! U live in a lovely place!Welcome @Denisel from BC. Enjoy retirement, there’s so much to do.
Welcome.Hi! I live in southern California but don't know if I'll be here much longer, very expensive
I'm in Dana Point for 25 yrs. It's a beautiful place n usually the weather is so nice except for when the SA winds blow. But recently it has become really expensive. Thinking about relocating.Welcome.
Was born in downtown Los Angeles, lived about San Diego some, but for decades have lived in Santa Clara County.
Lived in Wisconsin during the 60s. My parents liked to visit other states in the east n midwest. Seems like the wildlife is on overdrive every month it's not freezing or buried in snow in most states. The southwest has fewer but enoughWelcome, I retired from So CA to Ozarks. I miss the ocean and weather but it was the price to pay in order to retire early. The Ozarks does have things we never thought about in CA. Ticks, chiggers, no-see-ums(things that bite you but you can’t see them), spiders, snakes and just every other kind of bug you can think of. Anyway, everybody agrees it a beautiful place to live. After 20 years I’m kinda acclimated.
U sound like several acquaintances of mine here...I personally can relate to how peaceful a getaway on a boat in the harbor can be. Unfortunately, DP is becoming more a posh getaway for the rich n famous n no longer the sleepy harbor town I fell in love with in the 90s. This has driven up living costs for everyone...n priced us regular folks out.My favorite place. I would take the boat out and anchor up in the harbor for the night(s) when the wife got to be too much.

We have many Californians moving here to Texas. I have good friends that lived in Bell Canyon and bought what I would call a "mansion" in Prosper, which is 50 miles north of of house in Dallas. Talk about urban sprawl!Hi! I live in southern California but don't know if I'll be here much longer, very expensive.
I should have read through the entire thread. Dana Point is idyllic!I'm in Dana Point for 25 yrs. It's a beautiful place n usually the weather is so nice except for when the SA winds blow. But recently it has become really expensive. Thinking about relocating.
It's much busier n homes have become overpriced. Still a beautiful area. Where do u live now?I suppose San Juan Capistrano is overrun also? I used to live in Mission Viejo (on Josefina) & it was an easy drive to all those great destinations.
So, ur name is Rubye? That's very pretty. Thanks for the warm welcome. I am so happy I took the plunge so to speak n now I'm looking forward to new acquaintances. I have a lil dog who has been my faithful companion. I wouldn't part w her for the world. I love all animals. Pets do make our lives better. Had a kitty that lived 20 yrs.Hello @Denisel and welcome to SF. I know the loneliness you speak about. My only companion at home is my cat. Sometimes I wish she could talk. It will take a while to get adjusted to retirement. You will find your way.
Looks like people are dropping the L from your name already. My first name ends in E and all my life people have been ignoring it.

I hear from my grandson about the seesaw weather too. But u know, it's been more erratic lately everywhere. Maybe climate change? We all have to adjust n adapt. It's that atmosphere of friendly welcome I like best about texas. We have many Californians moving here to Texas. We moved here 16 years ago from South Florida and couldn't be happier. I'm happy to have 4 seasons again, and 9 months out of the year the weather is great. You have to adjust to the the temperature swings. We were in the low 40's today and will hit 80 degrees by Monday. What we love the most is the friendliness of the people. Dallas is a big, sophisticated city with a small town feel!
Yeah, I'm waking up to 20F this morning. It's still shocking & I got the wood burner going. I much prefer shorts & a tee-shirt.You have to adjust to the the temperature swings.
North West Arkansas, it's is a booming place thanks to Wal-Mart. However I'm way out in the Ozarks from there - very rural.Where do u live now?
I keep hearing about that area being the new destination hotspot. It sounds beautiful. What drew u to move to the heartland?North West Arkansas, it's is a booming place thanks to Wal-Mart. However I'm way out in the Ozarks from there - very rural.
Country living is the only way!My parents drove through this area & decided to retire here. While I was in CA I wanted to retire early and was looking for a homestead that wasn’t regulated to death - so CA was definitely out. During my search Mom mentioned there was a house on 3 acres near her & it came with a boat dock. I was hooked. Since this area is unincorporated you can do what ever. There are no regulations except for your septic system and water well. Just what I was looking for. I moved here in 2002 so its been 20 years.
