Most medical authorities now agree that wearing face masks in public is a good idea. It makes sense because we can spread virus by coughing or sneezing and even speaking because we are expelling aerosols by doing that and the mask contains it so we don't infect others. As for our own protection, I understand from medical authorities, that a mask provides 50-75% personal protection from virus spread. Wearing a face mask also prevents us from unconsciously touching our mouth or nose. Wearing glasses normally keeps us from touching our eyes.
The problem is that most people don't have any face masks on hand and there aren't any guaranteed safe ones for sale. The only option is to make our own. There are many online instructions on how to do it and the best materials to use. One suggested material was new vacuum cleaner bags.
