One Mistake And Life Is Changed Forever

The incident happened at 9:35pm. Investigators told ABC13 it appears that off-duty officers were at the meet, which was supposed to end at 9.

I live about 12 miles from where there used to be a drag strip for non-professionals, just young guys with fast cars who wanted to drag race. The idea was to keep them off public roads. Cars got wrecked now and then, and people got injured, but it remained active until a kid was killed and the parents demanded its closure.

I guess another near miss happened this morning with Tiger Woods speeding in California and his car is totalled and he's in surgery having a mangled leg fixed. Some people cannot keep their feet off that accelerator.

Street racing is extremely dangerous....both for the participants, and anyone observing nearby. When I was young, I really enjoyed going to the local drag strip and participating. However, now, at least in my State, there are virtually NO 1/4 mile drag strips....just a half dozen 1/8th mile strips....which barely test a cars capabilities. It seems that sometime in the past, these drag strips disappeared, and now these young people are left with nowhere to bury the gas pedal, other than streets and highways....just an accident waiting to happen.

It looked like the car hit by the Camaro was stopped in the middle of the highway. WTF? Or am I not seeing that correctly?
