One of my favourite birds

This fluff ball is known as a tawney frogmouth or a mopoke, because that is what its bird call sounds like. It is a rather mournful call that is usually heard after dark. It is a bit like an owl but not in the same family (?)

Sure looks like an owl.

It eats like one too. We do have owls in Australia but the frogmouth is uniquely Australian.
