OMG Mike....keep well away from crowds wherever you can, wash your hands throughly every time you think of it...and keep that virus your side of London do not send it this side...I can't avoid the city Don, I live in it and it is the one
where all immigrants to the UK need to visit sometime
to renew visas etc., especially if they have left not too
much time before it expires.
Mike.
Face masks don't do the job...best for the ill person to be wearing them:It seems that there aren't any good means to determine the cause and treatment of this virus...yet....and the people suffering from it might not know it, and can spread it among others unknowingly. I suspect this illness is going to get a lot worse before means are found to control it. For now, it seems that the best approach is to avoid any crowds, especially in the major cities where travelers are common, and practice good hygiene at all times. If I were to go to a doctors office, or hospital, during these times, I would seriously consider wearing some sort of facial mask.
I'm glad to see the 18,562 recoveries stated, that is one statistic that has been missing from the breathless news reports that I'm seeing.
A top Viral expert said in an interview that the paper masks you can buy from the local store are actually useless when it comes to this particular corona-virus, that in fact only the type of face mask a surgeon or doctor would use would be of good enough quality to prevent the virus from entering your lungs...
Still, I think, if I was offered a face mask in a busy waiting room, despite anyone else not wearing one, I would. I am slightly asthmatic, and I would want to remove any type of risk to my lungs as much as I can...
I've heard this too. So much info and or mis-info swirling around!I've heard from doctors' interviews, etc., that the ordinary face masks offer little to no protection against viruses in general because viruses are so small (much smaller than bacteria) that they can easily pass right through the face mask.
yes exactly that's what I was saying... the virologist , said that to be properly protected you need the type of mask surgeons use and not the disposable paper type ones you can buy over the counter ....I've heard from doctors' interviews, etc., that the ordinary face masks offer little to no protection against viruses in general because viruses are so small (much smaller than bacteria) that they can easily pass right through the face mask.
Yes, think it is simply natural to try to do something to protect ourselves like that...even if its less than stellar at being effective.just thinking what about closed compartments on trains in rush hour time ' to scary -if it was me I would carry a mask
each time even on buses .. so glad its not panic stress here in UK. at the moment,..
Yes, virus are tiny...about 1000 times smaller than bacterias. That's why the type of mask is so important...like using a biohazard one or whatever:yes exactly that's what I was saying... the virologist , said that to be properly protected you need the type of mask surgeons use and not the disposable paper type ones you can buy over the counter ....
I saw a picture in the paper the other day of a guy on the tube in London... wearing a Gas mask!!![]()
A/C filters, makes me think of Legionnaires’ Disease.I just heard on the news that of the 32 people who were
flown back from a cruise liner in Japan to quarantine here,
4 were found to be positive for the virus.
I keep hearing about the passengers on that ship, people keep
testing positive, the ships A/C must be infected as the passengers
are all confines to their cabins, yet they keep finding more sick, the
only thing that can be doing it is the air conditioning, the air is fresh
but the filters must be contaminated.
Mike.

What I am continue to wonder is do they really know how long the gestation period actually
is for these "14 day quarantined" people. Over and over you hear about people being let go and
then later developing symptoms, right? Or do is that not true?

Question is are they completely sure of the length of the gestation period? That's a Very real possibility. Once everyone is removed from this ship, it should be sealed tightly, and a strong anti-viral compound injected into its air control systems....and left that way for weeks.
I would imagine a lot of people are having second thoughts about taking a cruise, and being confined in close quarters for days with thousands of people, and I would guess that there will be a lot of "cancellations" in the cruise industry....all over the world.
