One Of My Online Friends Lost Her Daughter To COVID

I just found out. She and I have been online friends for over a decade and have been on four sites together. I feel so sorry for her, especially since she had previously lost another child (cause unknown to me). So many families are experiencing devastating losses due to this virus! Two in our family died from COVID. One was our family's oldest member who was due to celebrate his 100th birthday in July 2020, but died two months before in a N.J. Veterans home. The other was a cousin by marriage who I graduated with and was well known and loved in our city. But nothing is worse than the loss of a child (or grandchild). I pray my friend will somehow be comforted.

That is very sad,Diva.

We have an old friend battling Covid right now. He has been in ICU for two months. Saturday before last, his heart actually stopped for 6 minutes but they were able to get it restarted. There was concerned about brain damge but they are saying that so far he is responding appropriately to commands with eye blinks and hand squeezes. We are kept up to date on FB by his daughter, who is an RN. Even she has not been able to see him since he was admitted to the hospital.

I pray this family will have the same luck they have had in the past. About 15 years ago,my daughter was at a getogether with Dan`s wife (their kids were all friends) and she mentioned that she had been having constant stomachaches. She went to the doc and was diagnosed with pancreatic cancer. She was only in her mid-30s with little kids at home. She had surgery and a very mild chemo (didn`t even lose her hair!) and has had no sign of cancer since. Not too many people survive that one! But I think she was just diagnosed unusually early. Throughout her treatment, she always said she was determined to be there til her last kiddo graduated high school. She has done it and more! Now I hope Dan can pull through Covid as well. They moved to Texas years ago,so we had pretty much lost touch til now.

That's both a sad and heartening post, @Mrs. Robinson. Will be keeping Dan in my thoughts. What a wonderful story about Dan's wife. From that story I'm gleaning that he's in his fifties, is that correct?
