This tiny Upstate NY city has been named one of the best Christmas towns in America

A tiny Upstate New York city aglow with Christmas magic has been gifted a jolly new title.

Corning, a sparkling riverside gem in the Southern Tier, has been named one of the best Christmas towns in the U.S. by Time Out, an international travel website.

The Crystal City earned the No. 6 spot on the list of America’s 13 top Christmas communities, sharing space with other Hallmark Movie-worthy holiday communities like Solvang, California and Kennebunkport, Maine.

Corning, a city that straddles the winding Chemung River, is about 25 minutes west of Elmira and about 20 minutes north of the Pennsylvania border.

Only about 10,500 people call Corning home. But despite its size, the small city shines brightly — particularly at Christmastime.

Across the river, a short drive from the shop and restaurant-filled Gaffer District, the holiday party continues at the Corning Museum of Glass.

My wife and I drove to that that town one summer. She wanted to check it out and find out if she could purchase some pieces to go with the dishes for our daughter. I think she did buy some of the pieces, but I am not sure if they still have the consumer store open at Corning.

When I was a little spud, we went to the North Pole in upstate NY. Imagine my surprise when I found that it's an actual town and Sant's workshop is still there.
Santa's Workshop at the North Pole, an actual town in Upstate New York, has been charming kids and adults for more than 75 years.
