Last night we went to a car show/concert in a park near our house sponsored by a local radio station. The host, one of the radio personalities at the station, was talking about honoring veterans and service members and mentioned the Navy ship that his father had served on. It happened to be the first ship the Spousal Equivalent served on back in the 1960's. In talking with the radio guy afterward, it was determined that the radio guy's dad and the SE were on the ship at exactly the same time. Large ship, different duties, so they didn't know each other, but it IS a small world, isn't it? Incidentally, the SE's father was also on the ship. When the SE finished his Navy training, he requested father-and-son duty and joined his dad on the ship.
