"Discipline" Everyone has started a diet then quit many times over in their lives. Millions of diets and dieters and millions of failures. I wonder how many of us have pledged to go on a diet knowing the word "diet" means temporary. So we know deep down inside this thing we enter in to is only by definition temporary and it is almost a relief knowing so. We are overweight because of the way we have chosen to live our lives. We have all made long term and even life long commitments to other aspects of our lives and some have been successful. We quit smoking and drinking easier than stupid eating. Part of the reason for that is the constant exposure inside the home and outside to consume junk food, not so with cigarettes. "All You Can Eat", "Triple Cheeseburgers", "Stuffed Crust Pizzas" and good old "Mac & Cheese" ads are everywhere and constant. We have all heard the word "diet" is self destructing as opposed to "changing our lifestyles." I am among the guiltiest so don't reply as if I am on the outside looking in. I think watching so many die every day from Covid has had a serious impact on me. I am high on the list for a first-in-line vaccination because of my weight and the more that sinks in the more I am ashamed to know that.
