Online banking, anyone manage to do this?

I have been doing this for quite a few years. However, I am now learning all the things I can manage online right on my phone. So, this morning, I needed to go to the bank to get something taken care of, and thought, I think I can do this online. After awhile, I figured it out and got it done. (!) Well, I will wait and see tomorrow and go to the bank and ask a few questions. I am still proud of the fact I can still figure this "tech" stuff out.

I rarely ever have to go to my actual bank anymore, or even call them, unless there is something that I have to be in the bank and sign paperwork for.
My bank has an app, so I can check everything, pay bills, and transfer money as needed, all though the app. My only income is my SS pension check, and it is direct deposit; so there is just not much reason to even go to the bank now.

Oh yes I've been banking online for many years now. There's still some things I prefer to go into the Bricks and mortar bank for.. but the banks are closing at a rate of Knots in the UK, so now there are none in my town, so I have to go to the next county...

As for banking on my phone.. my whole family does it, but I've never wanted to do it.. I just don't want to spend my life being paranoid about losing my phone because I have my CC's and banking details on there

I do feel your apprehension for sure.

I bank using my phone. For the most part it is exactly the same as using the computer. I can remember my password…so do not save it on my phone. I never use public wifi. I keep cellular data turned off for banking apps unless I am using them. Phone lets me mobile deposit checks. Love it.

I agree ... I haven't set foot in my bank in maybe 3 years.
I think they still have a building nearby.

I use both online banking and the mobile app. I usually only go to a branch when I need cash for tips that I can't put on a credit card order. That is every 4-5 months and at Christmas. This is NYC, tips rule.

i might... MIGHT write 2-3 checks per year max. have almost everything set to auto pay when a bill comes due. i don't bank on my phone... just too dang small for me.

i do remember needing to go into the actual building... early in covid. got the giggles over everybody looking like bank robbers!

All my stuff is done on line. If I need cash, there is an ATM in my local market. The only time I had to go to the branch was to cash a check the ATM did not accept.

The only time I need cash is to pay some of the guys who work for me and prefer to be paid that way. That is the only time I go to the bank anymore, to get cash.

We've been doing online banking for years and years. Very convenient. You can also see when payments are debited from the account(s).

We occasionally go into the bank.

And when I say "we", I do mean my husband. LOL

I never ever go to a bank except for their free notary service. I open accounts, transfer funds and invest all from the computer. Don’t really care where/who the institution is as long as they meet all the regulatory requirement. It’s all about the best deal period. Sometimes I even open an account & transfer monies just to get a promotional. Discover had one for $200 last month.

I used to do online banking with my smart phone, but now my bank wants me to download an app from an online store. Which app? There are many. Which one can I trust? I liked it better when my bank allowed me to set up banking directly with my phone. Wasn't that an app? Why do I have to download a different one now? Is it because the bank no longer wants to be responsible for maintaining their app? Drives me nutz! No I am not going to call my bank and talk like a crazy old woman. Easier for me to let off steam being a dolt on here.

That sounds very dodgy to me..

@Judycat I know. I hate all this "Get the app!" stuff. I'm not even sure what an app is. But sometimes we're forced to use them. I do my banking on the website, but for certain things the bank makes me use the app.

Maybe the Internet is obsolete and everything is going to be apps. Then it will be something else. 🙄

As most of the others here, I do all my banking on line (computer only) unless I need money. I don't have auto pay set up except for a couple health insurance companies because I like to decide when to pay and not have anyone's hand in my pocket! Bill pay, to me, is much safer than the postal service. I know for sure they got paid.
