My previous company was headquartered in Seattle. Of course, they were so "progressive" they decided to introduce an Open Office concept. There were no longer any offices, only cubicles. Even the executives had cubicles. I always thought this was ridiculous because there was no privacy. There were closed rooms where one could have a private conversation, but you had to reserve them in advance.
This setup was meant to encourage interaction among employees, but instead everyone wore headphones to drown out the noise so no one interacted. Open Office concepts have long since been debunked, but some idiot executive bought into it.
It really came to a head during Covid, where the virus spread easily due to the lack of walls. Seattle is the breeding ground for everything due to the climate and everyone being inside for so long.
Now the office will be closing permanently as everyone has been asked to work at home. So much for the Open Office concept.
