Open windows or not?

I always have to have fresh air coming in from outside. I've never completely closed a window. I'm not claustrophobic, I feel it's unhealthy for several people to be in a room without fresh circulating. I go over a buddies house sometimes and he's never opened a window. I can only stay a short time. How many people prefer open or closed?

Because my apartment was in a high-crime area, my kids thought I was crazy to leave the back door and windows open all day. I only kept the bedroom window open at night. My catalytic converter was stolen one night, but other than that I never had any trouble. No one even attempted a break-in.

Michelle and I moved to a better area a few years ago. Now, only Michelle thinks I'm crazy to I keep the back door and a few windows open all day because it's cold and I also run the heater.

I keep the back door open as well..all day... except now in winter with our heating costs so high, I close it now , but come spring and summer it will stay open from morning until night again

I keep inside doors open if it's too cold for windows. I must have air circulation and I am a great one for airing everything especially bedding and clothes.

We open up the house spring and fall and other cool days. The fact 10,000 18 wheelers are on the I-States
you can hear them howling past a mile away matters. Air filtrations cuts the sound out.

I've had windows open in the past, and I still do sometimes, but it seemed that outdoor air sometimes made the house smell musty instead of fresh - depending a lot on humidity, etc. It also makes my central heat come on too much. I use plug-ins that put out a light fragrance.

I never put food scraps in the open trash can in the kitchen. I have a large plastic container with a lid on it that I keep in the lowest part of the refrigerator, which I line with a plastic bag, and I deposit food scraps in there until trash day. To keep the scraps it holds from having a bad odor, I pour a small amount of bleach mixed with water over them from time to time. It works.

This was too much information. Posting it anyway. ;)

Depends entirely on season. We've already been below 20F at night a couple of times this wInter. I get plenty of fresh air doing chores outside (so far most of the days have been sunny) taking DD to work and running errands. Spent 3 hrs splitting firewood, hauling it into house to those stacks and then moving some of most recent delivery of wood to porch where it is more protected from weather.

Summer there are windows we leave open 24/7 spring and fall it depends on if rain is coming in or the air too cold.

I have the kitchen window open but the rest closed. There are a lot of dogs where I live and I don't want flies coming in. Plus I have birds flying around. They might escape!

Open if the temps permit. Being in Arizona, we have extremely dry air and there is a technique one uses to avoid A/C or heating. Even with 90-95 outside I sit outside on my shaded patio with a fan overhead to create breeze.
I have a need for outside, air movement, sunshine or stars above me. Seeing open space.
24/7 if I could.

Same here, even it's 10 below I have a window cracked somewhere inside.
Me too! Only I'm a bit more careful now. I once had a window get frozen in the open position. Wind chills that night were forecasted to get to 50 below 0 (F). I tried using a hair dryer to melt the ice that was blocking the casing, but as soon as I turned off the dryer to try to shut the window the water would immediately re-freeze. Fortunately, a good friend of mine sent over her husband with an all-in-one tool, and he was able to dislodge the ice and shut the window. I was so grateful!

I prefer open windows. But living 100 yards from a pair of railroad tracks in the desert kind of puts a damper on that. After almost 30 years in Eureka where there are no railroads, I'm glad to be in an area where there are trains again. But not right outside my windows...

Windows open on summer mornings, closed during the day, opened in evenings, then all closed except bedroom at night. I don't dare leave windows open at night; bears and who knows what else may try to get in.

Can you please elaborate? Is it an air conditioner?
Sure. An air exchanger is a device that circulates outdoor and indoor air and filters the air as well. It also doubles up as a dehumidifier, taking excess water out of the air.
