Openings Not Working?

I agree. This just seen on the AccuWeather site - "Arizona hospitals are already preparing for another surge in COVID-19 cases. The director of the Arizona Department of Health Services informed hospitals across the state to activate emergency plans as the number of available ICU beds dwindles, ABC 15 reported, a news station based in Phoenix. By activating emergency plans, hospitals will be preparing for more patients, reducing or suspending elective surgeries, and cross-training staff. Arizona Gov. Doug Ducey lifted stay-at-home orders on May 15, which included the phased reopening of business such as salons and dine-in restaurants. At that time, Arizona was averaging around 450 to 550 new COVID-19 cases every day. Since then, the number has sharply risen, exceeding 1,000 new cases per day in early June, according to the Arizona Department of Health Services"

My county only has 39 confirmed cases with over 2000 testing neg.

I need an eye exam, so I called and ask if the docs were doing them. Yes they are. Hmm.

They have to get pretty close to the face of a patient during the exam. I mean when he's checking out the retina doc and patient are breathing the same air.

Wear a mask, we wipe everything down, the receptionist said. We'll see.

I just had an eye doctor visit last week.
There were techs, everyone had masks, areas were roped off to maintain distancing.
The entire exam was completed by computers which were sanitized before and after.
The doctor was on the TV screen, the chart on the wall via computer and somehow she managed the refraction( which is better, right or left, lowest line you can read, etc.)
I was pleased and satisfied with the visit.

So far things in New York State are going fairly well.

The local infection rate is 1.4% of people tested.

Locally we are scheduled to enter Phase 3 of the state's reopening plan this Friday. The biggest change for most people will be indoor dining at 50% occupancy and some additional retail.

Our local million square foot mega mall is still not being allowed to open but local officials are attempting to get a variance from the state.

One major topic of discussion is how to handle public schools this fall. The biggest sticking point seems to be how to transport kids to and from school safely.

Another is the New York State Fair that takes place in my area. It is a huge boost to the local economy but it draws approx. 1.3 million visitors during its 18 day run not to mention traveling vendors and carnival workers from all over the country.

I'm planning to stick with the same basic approach that I've used for the last 100 days which is to do what I need to do as carefully as I can.

Georgia opened, and the numbers remained steady. No spike, and no decrease. Texas is also doing well, IMO. My county has 700+ cases, in a population nearing 600,000. I think that's pretty good. It's going to spread, because it's a virus and that's what they do. Keeping us in lockdown just hurts the economy. Stop the negativity.

In Harris County where Houston is the cases are rising since mid-My when we started to reopen by about 100 cases per week. The highest number of cases by age range is 30-39 years. We are at 1,456 cases per week as of May 18-24, 1,323 the week prior.
