Orthapedic Appointment today; Cortisone Shot

Mr. Ed

Be what you is not what you what you ain’t
Location
Central NY
Made appointment prior to wearing an adjustable foot wrap for pain. Foot wrap minimizes pain so I can walk. Dillema? Do I cancel today's appointment or do I get the Cortisone shot and hope for the best?

Is there any reason you can’t do both?
If I cancel my appointment, obviously I would not get the shot. If I get the shot, then obviously I wouldn't cancel the appointment. The appointment is specifically to get the Cortisone shot not a check up.

Yeah I got that part. Maybe I don’t understand your question. It reads like you’re trying to decide whether to get the shot or continue to use the foot wrap. So I’m saying why can’t you get the shot AND continue to wear the foot wrap?

Get the shot. I tore a rotator cuff in my shoulder/arm a couple of years ago, and the doctor recommended a cortisone shot. They sent me to a Sports medicine specialist for the shot, and that doctor also gave me a good exercise regimen to follow. Between the shot and the exercises, everything healed up nicely, after a few weeks. I still do some of the exercises, and so far, so good.

Get the shot. It will relieve your pain so you can walk better. I get a shot every 3 months in my right knee & hip to stop the pain. It works. I'm too old to have them replaced with other health problems I have so the ortho Dr. says.

Does the pain come back very soon after taking off the foot wrap?

If not, I would personally wait on the cortisone shot.

I got lost on the way to the appointment, time passed and I drove home. I have an acupuncture appointment tomorrow. I stopped treatment because of COVID restrictions, I have a couple of appointments this week and next Acupuncture worked in the past.

Why suffer?? Get the shot. My hubby is having a total right knee replacement tomorrow but his left knee is "moderately" arthritic but the Ortho doc suggested a viscosupplementation injection to help stabilize that knee while he recuperates from TKR. We went this morning for the injection. No need to have more problems. They didn't give Cortisone.
