Our first house

Remember when... thirty seemed so old.
As some of you may know, we've had 11 different house's across the country. But, the one I loved the most was the quaint old Vermont house (built in 1920) that we had in when first married in 1972. Nothing like dragging a NYC girl out of Queens and up to the remote mountains of Vermont. Rustic was the right name for this place. Cooking and heating the kitchen area on the old kitchen wood stove, heating the rest of the un-insulated old place with a basement wood furnace (complete with copper coils to heat our water), and a huge floor grate the dry your boots on, plus a little pot bellied stove in the one bedroom. Spring fed drinking water. First order of business was I to add a little pantry to the side and later, a larger front porch (to store firewood) and a dormer upstairs in anticipation of having little ones.
I call that heaven. Sometimes I wish I was still there, builds character.
