We just returned from a cruise in Alaska. Always nice to be home, but we loved Alaska and spent a few days in Seattle as well visiting friends. The weather was beautiful. Ketchikan only gets 40 rain-free days during the year and we got one of them! It is a cute little town.

We hiked in the Tongass Rain Forest in Sitka. Beautiful!

And enjoyed a Salmon Bake in Juneau. Again, the skies were clear and that was some delicious salmon!

And of course saw some beautiful glaciers! Alaska is a wondrous place!Glacier.jpg

We enjoyed our cruise in Alaska. My favorite port was Sitka because we got to see a lot of wildlife on our excursion. The scenery throughout was breathtaking!
I loved the food, feed me salmon every day!
Thank you for sharing your experience and your beautiful pictures, I am glad to hear that you had a good time.

Friends flew up to Petersburg to spend 10 days on my boat as I began my journey down to the lower 48. They had tickets out of Ketchikan to get them home, and we had a few days to spend there. We toured a lot of sights, including a defunct whore house (they actually have a tour for that, a kind of tribute to the days of old), and we decided to look into a seaplane flight down to Misty Fjords National Monument, a wild and beautiful place. Now that kind of tour is more expensive that a two dollar tour of an old whore house, and expensive enough to make a wealthy person pause and reflect.

So we're standing there in the office debating about spending the money, and my friend said, "That's a lot of money. I don't know if we should do it." Now I wasn't trying to influence my friends one way or another, and I just casually remarked, "You'll never see better weather than today's sunny skies." He abruptly said, "That does it. I'm going to do this!"

It was a wonderful flight. We landed on a mountain lake way up high as many of the freshwater lakes in Southwest Alaska are, and we flew over mountain goats on the cliffs of mind boggling scenery. It was worth it.

I flew into Anchorage only once. It was nowhere as cold as I had expected. This was in early November. We had a 4 hour layover before flying into Denver. Heck, it was colder in Denver. What I saw of Alaska from the air, the scenery was beautiful.

Nice pictures.
